Learning Tango,Reimagined
Tuesdays, 19:00–21:15 · 12 weeks · Starts 22 September
Tango in Progress is our flagship course for continuing dancers, a 12-week progressive program for those who are ready to go beyond collecting new steps. It's designed for experienced dancers who want to understand movement more deeply, practice with real purpose, and take an active role in their own development.
Rather than following a one-size-fits-all syllabus, the course is built around you. It combines individual assessment, body technique, small-group laboratory work and shared practice into one complete learning experience, guided by Ivan and Sara.
Before the course begins, every participant has a one-to-one assessment. We watch you dance, talk about your experience and goals, and identify the technical areas where focused work will make the biggest difference. This becomes the foundation for everything that follows.
Prepare. Every class opens with a structured warm-up and targeted individual technique. We work on body organization, coordination, balance, articulation, tone and movement quality, so that dancing in partnership feels clearer, more efficient and more comfortable.
Explore. Next, you move into the Tango Laboratory: a stable small group of three to four couples, matched by experience, needs and understanding. Each group follows its own written curriculum with shared and individual goals, practice assignments and clear progression criteria. Groups advance when the essential principles are truly understood, not just because another week has passed.
Integrate. Finally, everyone comes back together for guided work on musicality, floorcraft, improvisation and social-dance application. This is where ideas are tested on the floor and new questions emerge. Ivan and Sara move between the groups offering individual and collective feedback, and selected exercises may be filmed (always with your consent) to help you connect what you feel with what you see.
The course offers individual assessment and personal goals, stable small groups with their own written curriculum, guided feedback throughout every session, and video learning with consent.
Progress is built through consistency, curiosity and shared responsibility. Regular attendance and practice matter, because every dancer contributes to the growth of the whole group. Our aim is not to make everyone dance the same way, but to help each person dance with greater clarity, freedom and confidence.
